Clarence and Angie Reenders were part of the birth of the commercial Michigan blueberry industry that began in the 1950's. The Reenders family started with 30 acres in 1956 and now is one of the largest blueberry operations in Michigan, which is the #1 blueberry producing state. To continue their expansions, the Reenders family has added bushes on farms as far as 8-10 miles away. Every year the family adds about 20 acres of new blueberry bushes. The sandy glacial soils and high water tables provide ideal conditions for bushes that can produce fruit for 50 to 60 years.
